Winter is holding on tightly this week with a series of snow showers and chilly temperatures expected to affect the region. This forecast breaks down the expected conditions day by day, highlighting key details like snowfall amounts, temperature changes, and wind patterns.

Wednesday and Wednesday Night: Snow Showers and Accumulation

Wednesday will bring persistent snow showers with a high near 32°F. The west wind will blow steadily at 13 to 15 mph, increasing the chill factor. There is a 90% chance of precipitation, and new snow accumulation is expected to reach around 3 inches by the end of the day. This means roads and sidewalks could become slippery, so it’s wise to plan extra travel time and dress warmly.

As night falls, snow showers will continue mainly before midnight. Temperatures will drop to around 19°F with northwest winds between 8 to 14 mph. Another inch of snow accumulation is possible overnight. If you need to be outside late Wednesday or early Thursday, be prepared for icy patches and reduced visibility.

Thursday and Thursday Night: Lingering Snow and Cold Conditions

Thursday starts with a slight chance of snow showers before 11 a.m., but the day will mostly be cloudy. The high temperature will be near 26°F, colder than Wednesday, with northwest winds at 8 to 11 mph. The chance of precipitation drops to 20%, so snow showers will be less frequent but still possible in the morning.

Thursday night will remain mostly cloudy with a low around 12°F. Winds will calm down to 3 to 7 mph from the west. This cold night will likely freeze any wet surfaces, so be cautious of ice forming on roads and walkways.

Friday and Friday Night: Cloudy Skies with Snow Chances

Friday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 31°F, hovering just above freezing. This means any snow or ice from earlier in the week may start to melt during the day, but the cold air will keep conditions slippery in shaded or less exposed areas.

Friday night brings a 40% chance of snow showers, with temperatures dropping to around 18°F. The combination of clouds and snow chances means you should keep an eye on the forecast if you have outdoor plans or late travel.

Weekend Outlook: Mostly Cloudy with Occasional Snow

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 32°F, similar to Friday’s daytime temperature. Snow showers are less likely during the day, but the cold will persist. Saturday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 13°F, so temperatures will remain well below freezing.

Sunday offers a bit of a break with partly sunny skies and a high near 36°F. This slight warming could help melt some snow, but the ground will likely stay cold. Sunday night brings a 30% chance of snow showers with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 24°F.

Early Next Week: Mild Warming with Cloudy Skies

Washington’s Birthday on Monday will be partly sunny with a high near 38°F, the warmest day in the forecast so far. Despite the milder temperature, the night will turn mostly cloudy with lows around 24°F.

Tuesday continues the trend of mostly cloudy skies with a high near 41°F. This warming trend may bring some relief from the cold, but snow showers could still occur depending on moisture availability.
