Washington’s Birthday: A Snowy Day Ahead

On Washington's Birthday, anticipate more snow, primarily in the morning before 1 PM. This round of snow is accompanied by a 90% chance of snowfall, much like tonight's forecast.

As the day goes on, expect blowing snow beginning after 8 AM. The high for the day is expected to be only 22 degrees, with wind chill values dropping to around -3 degrees. Winds will be stronger, ranging from 24 to 29 mph, with possible gusts up to 55 mph.

With an expected new snow accumulation of around 5 inches, traveling could become hazardous due to snow and blowing conditions. For reference, during a similar snowstorm last year, roads were rated “hazardous” in 65% of the area, leading to numerous accidents.

Monday Night: Continued Snow

Monday night will bring back snow showers after 11 PM, alongside more blowing snow. The cloud cover will thicken, with lows plummeting to about 8 degrees. Wind chill values could drop to -9 degrees, intensifying the cold.

Breezy winds will persist, blowing at 21 to 23 mph with gusts reaching up to 39 mph. There remains a 70% chance of precipitation, with forecasts suggesting around 2 inches of new snow accumulation. If you must be outside or travel at night, stay updated on the forecast.

The winds will calm slightly, reaching up to 18 mph, while gusts may still be as high as 29 mph. An 80% chance of precipitation indicates that more snow is likely.
