As winter's icy breath settles in, many are curious about how the weather will shape up not just this afternoon, but throughout the weekend. In this post, we will break down the forecast, specifically highlighting what to expect in terms of snow, rain, and temperature changes. Whether you're planning fun outdoor activities or settling in for a cozy day inside, knowing what to anticipate can help you prepare better.

This Afternoon's Forecast

This afternoon brings a slight chance of snow showers before 2 PM, followed by flurries between 2 PM and 4 PM. Expect mostly cloudy skies with temperatures peaking at around 35 degrees Fahrenheit. A gentle southwest wind of 5 to 8 mph will help ease the cold a bit, but be sure to layer up if you're heading outside!

With only a 20% chance of precipitation, significant snowfall is unlikely. Still, a few flakes might dance through the air, adding a touch of winter magic to your afternoon stroll or commute.

Tonight's Overnight Conditions

As the evening sets in, the clouds will stay put, and temperatures will dip to around 26 degrees Fahrenheit. A gentle southeast wind blowing at 6 to 9 mph will keep the night feeling quite cold. If you're heading out, dress warmly to avoid the chill.

The chance of precipitation tonight remains low, yet the cold may still lead to sporadic flurries. It's an ideal evening to cozy up with a hot beverage and take in the serene atmosphere snow creates.

Saturday's Weather: Rain and Snow Ahead

As Saturday arrives, expect a lively mix of rain and snow before 1 PM, transitioning to steady rainfall from 1 PM to 5 PM. The forecast predicts snow to return after 5 PM. The high will climb to about 39 degrees, supported by a southerly wind blowing at 11 to 14 mph.

With a significant jump in precipitation chances to 80%, we can anticipate some accumulation, although less than half an inch is expected.

This mixed precipitation could result in slippery conditions, making it vital to drive carefully if you are on the roads or participating in outdoor activities.

Saturday Night into Sunday

Saturday night will continue with a blend of rain and snow showers, changing entirely to snow after 10 PM. Temperatures are expected to fall to around 17 degrees Fahrenheit, alongside a westward wind at about 7 mph. The snowy conditions will create a crisp and frosty landscape.

With a 60% chance of precipitation, again expect less than half an inch of fresh snow accumulation.

On Sunday, the weather shifts slightly, offering a chance of snow after 1 PM while mostly remaining cloudy. Temperatures will reach a high of just 24 degrees with a gentle northwest wind around 6 mph.

Sunday Night to M.L.King Day Outlook

As Sunday transitions into night, the possibility of snow persists with a slight chance before 1 AM. Afterward, the likelihood reduces, and only a few lingering snow showers may occur. Expect a low of around 7 degrees with a 30% chance of further precipitation.

Heading into M.L.King Day, anticipate mostly cloudy skies and a chance of additional snow showers with a high near 16 degrees. Given the 40% chance of precipitation, it’s wise to keep your winter gear near.

Monday Night and Beyond

Snowy conditions may stretch into Monday night with a low around 2 degrees and a 30% chance of more snow showers. The incoming cold air could freeze any accumulated snow from the weekend, making surfaces especially slick.

Tuesday's forecast shows a partly sunny day with highs only reaching about 12 degrees. As evening arrives, expect mostly cloudy conditions and temperatures to drop to around -3 degrees. By Wednesday, though partly sunny, it will still be cold, with highs near 14 degrees.

Thursday's Outlook

To wrap up, Thursday is expected to bring partly sunny skies with temperatures inching up slightly to around 25 degrees. This may feel like a breath of fresh air after several bone-chilling days.

Weekend Weather Preview

This weekend is shaping up to be a classic winter experience marked by fluctuating temperatures, chances of snow, and bouts of rain. Always check your local forecasts for the most recent updates, as weather conditions can change quickly. Carrying an umbrella while navigating the mixed weather can be beneficial, along with wearing appropriate clothing for the cold.
