Friday and Friday Night: Heavy Snowfall Expected

The weekend’s snowy conditions begin Friday afternoon, with snow starting mainly after 4 p.m. The snow could be heavy at times, leading to new accumulations of around 3 inches by nightfall. Temperatures will peak near 23°F, with calm winds shifting to an east breeze of 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

As Friday night progresses, snow will continue mainly before 11 p.m., again heavy at times. Another 3 inches of snow accumulation is expected overnight. Temperatures will drop to around 18°F, with east winds at 5 to 8 mph. The chance of precipitation is high, reaching 100% overnight.

What to Do Before the Snow Hits

  • Prepare your vehicle: Ensure your tires are winter-ready, windshield wipers are functional, and keep an emergency kit with blankets, food, and water.

  • Stock up on essentials: Groceries, medications, and other necessities should be purchased ahead of time to avoid venturing out during heavy snow.

  • Clear gutters and drains: Prevent ice dams and flooding by clearing debris before the snow accumulates.

Saturday: Partly Sunny but Cold

Saturday brings a break from the snow with partly sunny skies and a high near 30°F. Winds will be light from the east, making it a good day to clear snow or run errands before the next weather system arrives.

Saturday night will be mostly cloudy with temperatures dropping to around 15°F and calm winds. This cold night will freeze any melted snow, so be cautious of icy patches on roads and sidewalks.

Sunday and Sunday Night: Rain and Snow Mix

Sunday’s weather will shift with a chance of rain after 1 p.m. Temperatures will rise to near 36°F, but the sky will remain mostly cloudy. The chance of precipitation is 50%, so expect wet conditions that could cause slushy roads.

Sunday night will bring rain with a low near 34°F and a 90% chance of precipitation. This warmer night could lead to melting snow and possible flooding in low-lying areas.

Tips for Sunday

  • Drive carefully: Wet roads combined with melting snow can be slippery.

  • Protect outdoor items: Secure or bring inside anything that could be damaged by rain or melting snow.

  • Check drainage: Ensure gutters and storm drains are clear to reduce flood risk.

Monday Through Wednesday: Mixed Snow and Rain Showers

Monday will start with rain before 5 p.m., then transition to a mix of rain and snow. The high will reach near 42°F, with a 100% chance of precipitation. Monday night will bring snow showers with a low around 17°F and breezy conditions.

Tuesday and Wednesday continue with snow showers likely, mostly cloudy skies, and highs near 24-25°F. Breezy winds will persist, and nighttime lows will drop to the low teens. The chance of precipitation remains between 60% and 80%, so expect ongoing snow accumulation.

  • Dress in layers: Cold temperatures and wind chills require warm clothing, including hats, gloves, and insulated boots.

  • Monitor weather updates: Conditions can change quickly; stay informed through reliable sources.

  • Plan travel carefully: Snow showers and icy roads may cause delays or hazardous driving conditions.

  • Maintain heating systems: Ensure your home heating is working efficiently to stay warm during cold nights.
