...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT...Monday
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania,
including the following counties, in central New York, Broome,
Chenango and Cortland. In northeast Pennsylvania, Lackawanna,
Luzerne, Susquehanna and Wyoming.
* WHEN...Until midnight EDT.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Overflowing poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or
other areas is occurring or is imminent.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 804 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
indicated ongoing heavy rainfall and a few embedded
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area by midnight. This additional rain will result
in minor flooding.

Scranton, Binghamton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazleton, Cortland,
Johnson City, Endicott, Carbondale, Pittston, Norwich,
Tunkhannock, Montrose, Marathon, Waverly, Greater Binghamton
Airport, Falls, Vestal, Muhlenberg, Dunmore and Old Forge.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
