...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania,
including the following areas, in central New York, Broome,
Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Madison, Onondaga,
Schuyler, Southern Cayuga, Sullivan, Tioga and Tompkins. In
northeast Pennsylvania, Bradford, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Northern
Wayne, Pike, Southern Wayne, Susquehanna and Wyoming.
* WHEN...Until Midnight EDT tonight.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may also occur in the typical poor drainage and urban
areas.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Rainfall amounts so far today have ranged from 0.5 to 1.5
inches in northeast Pennsylvania to 0.25 to 1 inch in central
New York. Steady rain will intensify between 4 and 7 PM, and
as the front moves through and an additional 1 to 2 inches is
possible in a relatively short period of time.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
