A wind advisory is currently in effect for Madison County, New York. The National Weather Service warns of high winds with gusts up to 55 mph in the afternoon 1. The winds could blow around unsecured objects and knock down tree limbs, leading to power outages 1. It is advisable to tie down holiday decorations and take caution on the roads 1. National Grid has increased staffing, extended evening and overnight shifts, and pre-staged crews and materials in light of the potential weather 1. During a power outage, always operate generators outside to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning and shut off the main breaker in the house before doing so. Never touch downed power lines.
